Breeding Classes in the show ring, What do i need?

From reading a similar post about being registered etc for county level showing...
Im doing the hunter breeding classes with my two girls & wondered what I need to do passport wise?
I dont think they need to be registered, as its a hunter class, but i may be wrong?
The foal isnt passported yet, but has had her jab etc...
Ive got the mares passport which is up to date with jabs.
Will i need to bring this, and do i need to have a passport sorted for foaly?

It depends. It will normally say on the class whether it is affiliated or not. A lot of them are affiliated to Sport Horse Great britain, in which case you WILL need to register.

I think your suppose to take your passport to the county shows in case they are required for inspection, if the class is affiliated to SHB (uk) rules or run in conjuction with them then your passport should be overstamped by them, it costs £25.00 with a deduction for 3 or more passports. I recently send my three youngsters passports its easy to do, print off the application form from the internet and post it with your passport and cheque, mine came back within approx 7 days, they seem to be quite good.
I recently entered a class last minute which was run to SHB uk rules and my passport had only gone a few days previous so i called the secretary of the show and explained, they were really helpful and said that as long as i wasnt lying that the passport was away with SHB and i could produce a registration number shortly they would accept my entry.

If you're entering mare and foal then be prepared for chaos - every mare and foal class I've seen seems to be one handler desperately hanging on to the foal while the other tries to show the mare

, not to mention horses outside the arena (esp mares) also going a bit nuts

Might be different in horses though
