I'm doing a piece of work in college on breeding, specifically reproductive techniques for the stallion. can anyone tell me if there is a qualification for semen collection?

and the legislation, if any, that controls AI?

also the cost of hormone manipulation?

You do not need to have a qualification to collect semen but you do have to have one to AI mares yourself. You have to attend a course recognised by DEFRA and you will become a legally qualified AI Technician. Courses normally last 2 days and you have to pass both a written and practical examination go gain the certification. This will give you the skills to collect, evaluate and process semen and to inseminate mares artificially with the approval of DEFRA.
