Princess anne used to event a lovely horse called 'Doublet', who was sadly put to sleep after he broke his leg in 1974. Just wondered if anyone knows anything about his breeding?

Doublet was by Doubtless the Second and out of Swate, a polo pony owned by Prince Phillip.

He was owned by the Queen and would have been a polo pony if he hadn't grown to 16.2.

Doublet had a fall at Badminton in 1973 (?), after which he was not lame and so carried on working and was stabled at Sandhurst being prepared for Tidworth in 1974. Princess Anne was cantering across Smiths Lawn in May of that year when she heard the crack of her horse leg breaking and he was put down that morning.

Apparently the fall at badminton he fractured his hind leg above the hock, but because there was no evidence of lameness he was never x-rayed.
