I've got a couple of questions, first has anyone bred their mare to Rubinstein recently? Were you happy with the resulting offspring? Why or why not?

When you have a famous sire like Rubinstein, Caprimond, etc. do you feel it's best to breed directly to the old man himself, or to one of his many sons?

Thanks!

Deirdre

Rubenstein I died in 2000 so there will not be any foals from him unless someone has some frozen semen stored somewhere. I look at the individual stallion and the mare to decide as sometimes the son may look to be the better cross and sometimes the more famous father.

My friend has a stallion by Royal Blend and his temperament is to die for. I think a lot of the Rubinstein sons throw good temperaments. Rotspon is renowned for this and if I am not mistaken Royal Blend is a Rotspon son. They do say the 'R' line means rideable! She has also had other 'R' line youngsters (she imports as foals to sell) and they are all very easy. I have noticed recently when looking at breeding of horses for sale that quite a few horses with Sandro Hit (progeny can be sharp) on the top line they quite often have Rubinstein on the mother line and I am sure that is no coincidence!
