I now have two horses. Although my mother would also like to get back in the saddle with her own, however I have no idea which breed we should be looking out for!

it would need to be suitable for schooling jumping and xc for me - but also a good calm or fast hack for my mum. must be weight carrying and not a breed known for being extra fizzy or spooky! A calm weight carrying horse suitable for all disciplines.

We are aware that cobs would fit the bill although not a fan off mane and feather. we hogged my horse which we thought was a cob but hes acutaly half dale, which changes the length of neck making hogging look alot better on him than a traditonal cob!

any help would be great thank you :)

my dale x cob is 14.2 and I also have a 15.3 tb x arab

Hello, you shouldn't be to worried about what breed the horse is as long as it suits your mums needs. But horse that contain a bit of draft or cob are generally quite docile, calm and friendly horses. But you can come across horses such as Thoroughbreds and warmblood types that are also calm and docile. It all depends on the personality of horse.
Hope this helps.

Ever considered a Crabbet arab? They are a very old blood-lines arab, the original desert warhorse. Great riding horses, less scatty than the modern arab, more solid (ie less extreme) build. Very athletic animals, many great jumpers, superb temperaments. Many top ridden arabs are high% (ie over 75%) Crabbets.

Here's mine doing her first xc (went clear, only been schooled over xc fences once before the competition):
