What do others think of him and his offspring. I had never heard of him really and was advised to put my mare in foal to him by someone who knows more about breeding than i do. I took their advice and am really pleased with what i have got. I also have a super filly by one of his sons Benvenuto out of a Scarlatti mare. And then of course he produced Being Bling. The more research i do the more i like what i see but it would seem that there is not a lot od his stock around, unlike Sandro Hit just to mention 1, yet as far as i can see Breitlings stock seem to be doing really well. Is it because he is more old fashioned. just curious

Breitling is a very popular stallion in Germany. Just this week his son "Bertoli W" ridden by Brigitte Wittig won the 6 year old Bundeschampionate Qualifier in Munster with an 8.4.

And last year in the 2007 Westfalian Bundeschampionate Qualifier Brigitte won the 5 year old division with Blind Date with 8.8 and then came 1st and 2nd with Bohigas (8.6) and Brioni (8.2), all three by Breitling.... kinda says it all...

He may not be a huge name in the UK "yet", but he is gaining popularity by breeders over here, as have heard a lot either using him or a son, and he is certainly popular with mare owners in Europe.

It's because the Wittigs only use their stallions for a linited amout of coverings. Breitling is currently no 2 in the German Breeding index which is quite something given that he only covers 20 or so mares a year and has only been covering this number for a few years. The Wittigs like theor stallions to be relaxed and focused on their work at home so they only do very limited coverings. Some of his offspring to look up are Blind Date, Brioni, Berkeley, Bohigas, Barilla, Biagotti, Baldessarini and of course Bertoli. There's loads about them on Eurodressage.

His offspring can be a bit plain especially as youngsters but they are extremely rideable and seem to know how to produce the goods under saddle!

We have 5 by Breitling, 6 by Benvenuto and mares either in foal or going back to Breitling as well as one to Bertoli this year so as you can see I really like them!

Do you have any pics of your Breitling x Scarlatti?

The foals i have are benvenuto x scarlatti the other is Breitlingx Broadstone chicago x donnerhall, i am so pleased with both of them and dont think either are pain, if you look at taylored equestrians thread introducing her new orphan you will see the breitling donnerhall filly, sadly we lost the mare a couple of weeks ago and taylored equestrian is looking ater her for me.
i could be biased but i dont think she is plain even though i have heard the same from others

i dont know how to add photos but could email you some of the benvenuto filly

Sorry to hear about your mare, that's very sad.

Well I may be biased but I don't think mine are plain either! It is just a comment that is often made about them. I think compared to some they don't necessarily have the massively extravagent movement initially but this does seems to come through when they are under saddle.

Having said that we have a Breitling x Donnerhall 2 year old, Blind Date's sister and she really is something special already. Not the greatest picture but this is her:

Here are some more pics of Madmares orphan (Breitling x Broadstone Chicago x Donnerhall). Taken last week. So think she is 2 months 3 weeks here (madmare will need to confirm age). Bottom pic has her with surrogate 'mum' (even though he's a 16 yr old gelding!!!)

He's lovely, what's his dam line? I have 6 Benvenuto babies so you can see that I am a fan too!

The plain comment is not mine by the way, but is one that is often made about Breitling stock, I don't think it is meant in an insulting way as Wolfram Wittig uses it as well, I think it is more that they are not always as flashy as some others when they are little but always seem to develop their star quality under saddle. Perhaps it is because they tend to be bigger that they are late maturers?

This one is one of my Benvenuto babies and I think she is far from plain!

Rivera my boy's dam line is Lauries Crusader/Watzmann/Glander.
I think your girl is lovely, very smart foal!
Christian told me what you have been told, that the Breitling stock did not sell well as foals because they did not have the flashy movement but came into their own under saddle and were more likely to get to GP that the more extravegant moving foals.

Yes that's exactly what Mr Wittig says about them too.

Your boy has some fabulous bloodlines there! No wonder he's a stunner.

she looks just like my little girl, what is the dam line

Mum is Warkant x Sagunas, we have her foal from last year too who was by Rascallino and she is very beautiful but perhaps not as big a mover.

Delphipuppy -I hadn't heard the comment about Breitling foals not selling as well, that's interesting given the performance of the horses that Anastasia had mentioned etc. I suppose we are lucky in that we aren't intending to sell our foals but it wasn't something that had occured to me given the success rate of bloodline.

Sorry for the extra post, I had just thought of this after posting the last but!

He did say this to me ages ago, before all the well known horses were doing so well. Perhaps it's no longer the case as now people realise the potential in the foals having seen his stock out and about.

Its an interesting one isn't it? I suppose its also as there are relatively few on the ground so less exposure.

It will be interesting to see how they do at the WBC and Bundeschampionate this year, fingers crossed for Bertoli as have one going in foal to him!

I have heard nothing but good things about Breitling. His owners use him all the time and all their best young horses are by him.
I have a Being Bling foal due in June so I am a bit biased!
Have seen him under saddle and I was very impressed.
