Hi everyone,

Please excuse the complete newbie status of me! I've only had my horses for three weeks (today!)

So far, I have fed and treated them exactly as the previous owner did but I keep hearing about brewer's yeast and am wondering what benefit's it has?

Any information and personal experiences are much appreciated.

Emma :-)

Hi Prawnsize, welcome to H&H;

I use brewer's yeast for my boys. I feed it to ward off midges and to aid digestion which; touch wood, it is doing.

p.s. we need details of your horses :)

I feed it because it is a great source of B vitamins, including biotin which is great for supporting healthy hoof growth. My horse has pretty crappy feet and my new farrier has suggested feeding biotin - BY is supposed to be one of the best sources for it.

It is also supposed to help with digestion and must say my horse's "grassy belly" has disappeared since I started feeding it, and it's a good all round supplement.
