I tried to research this but got more confused. Will the 'Brexit Deal' make a difference to the dealers that bring horses from Ireland.

Just wondering if they are soon going to be even more difficult to find !

The crossing will be longer as they can no longer go from port to destinarion but have to go via a 'border check' customs post.
There may be different paperwork, blood tests etc needed too.

Whatever about moving that way, moving horses through the UK from Europe to Ireland, and I imagine just straight up moving or importing into the UK is next to impossible at the moment. No one seems to know what the rules are anymore. more people going from France to ireland via Dunkirk buts it’s an 18 hour crossing

It will be very expensive to move them it won’t be worth it.

I'm not sure this is necessarily true. Yes, of course costs will be higher but that doesn't mean for sure it won't be worth it. At the moment with UK horse prices as they are I suspect the margins are big enough to absorb some additional costs.

Longer term there's so many variables as regards the Pound/Euro exchange rate and horse prices in the UK and Ireland that could be affected by so many things around Brexit and Covid-19 and their impact on the UK and Irish economies generally. Personally, without access to a fully functional crystal ball, I'd rather not make any definitive predictions.

Personally, I do think the prices will rise.
They have to, as most dealers wont absorb the extra costs, so unless you are buying for yourself-whereby the costs Will also increase - and keeping the horse, I doubt there will be much other choice.
Anyone with a Connie for sale already here, once we are out of lockdown, I imagine you maybe able to get abit more than you thought too.

Assuming you mean importing to UK from ROI theres a lot of checkpoints around the ROI -NI border .....
Apparently it is what they are doing and there is a loophole in the law - at the moment, loophole expected to be closed in a few months. I don't know anymore detail than this

I don’t know about NI to UK, but assuming it’s similar in both directions, you do now need an export certificate and a blood test, but currently you can reclaim costs back from the government (only for UK-NI movements, not UK-Europe). But I do think prices will rise anyway, because of the extra hassle. (And I assume transport costs will rise too, because of having to go via checkpoints and wait for papers to be checked etc.)
