Ok, its my 30th soon and want to buy a birthday present for myself (like you do)

I want a new bridle for Adina.

I have been looking and watching some Stubben 2000 ( i think) that are going on Ebay. They go for about £75 which is ok and I can choose size, colour etc so can get black with white padding. However, one finished last night and I was just looking at the photos again and just wasn't sure the leather looked that appealing.

SO,then I looked at the Heritage comfort bridles. I have had one in the past (bought it for a horse but it never got used and put it back on Ebay). If I remember rightly, the leather was wonderfully soft and padded.

Im now not sure so am looking for advice, opinions or other suggestions. I don't want to spend too much as she is only 3 and may grow a little more yet but am quite happy to go up to £100.00

I bought a lovely Sabre Cordoba and havent used it *cough cough* as I still love my Heritage comfort bridle.

My Sabre Cordoba was just a little more than that (bought in a sale at Country Supplies on the net). It is a lovely bridle and beautifully soft and squishy. It has withstood Ronnie's teeth on numerous occasions, plus being rubbed and scraped against the wall (I have such a nice horse...)!

I would recommend it certainly.

Kieffer bridles are about that (including the reins) and I have found them to be very soft and the leather is really good quality.

I never clean my tack and my 3 year old bridles still look brand new - they have been cleaned about 6 times and oiled once.

Yes thats it, the one with the split head piece.

Im just so unsure

Now, to make matters worse, I have just seen a nice rolled leather bridle.....

I have a stubben bridle and I am very happy with it. It is very well made and the leather is good quality. I bought the stubben comfort headpiece which is also a nice piece of kit.

I like to change my bridle by swapping the browband. I go on holiday to Germany, so I always pick up a new one when I'm out there, they are much cheaper than buying here.

If you are unsure, then it's not the bridle for you.

I got a Heritage bridle from eBay and love it - fantastic leather. Personally don't like Stubben, and although I have never had a problem with my Keiffer saddle, a friend of mine worked in a saddlery for a while and said she would never buy a keiffer bridle because of the leather - also horse at work has a Keiffer bridle and it looks rubbish now after a couple of years of use.
P.S. I particularly love my Heritage bridle cause I only paid £36 for it - including reins!!

That's really odd as I bought a heritage bridle and I didnt rate the leather - it was only used a couple of times while I was waiting for the Kieffer I had ordered for the (then) new horse to be in stock.

Its now sitting somewhere gathering dust and last time I saw it, it looked a bit manky (I did clean it before I put it away but that didnt seem to help). The black leather also started to look a bit brown. It was really well padded though - much more so than the Kieffer.

The only criticism of my Kieffer bridles is that one of the billet keepers has torn on the reins so that needs to be repaired.

Another vote here for the kieffer bridles, VERY happy with mine. Just got the latest ergonomic and he does really seem to be going better in it. Even my sceptical OH has noticed the difference.

When Alee tunred 4 I treated her (and me

) to a lovely Kate Negus Bridle it comes with a really good warranty too. It really is beautifull and I will keep it for any horse I own - its just a shame its hanging in my loft doing nothing right now

eRally not a fan of Stubben, but Jefferies are nice. I always buy from my local saddler, as they really are fantastic. Bit more then £70 though
