Hi after advice. I’ve down sized my old boy from a straight bar Pelham to a Waterford as he’s not as strong these days. He’s a short faced Arab and the new bit rings look huge and overlap his noseband. Can’t move the noseBand up as it would be on his cheeks - he’s very short in that area. My question is; is this just a cosmetic problem or will it affect the action of the bit? If it’s just looks weird I don’t really care, but if it is affecting usage then I do! Attached is a photo I found of how he looks (it’s not him though but exactly the same!) Noseband is under bit rings in photo. Could try a bradoon for smaller rings but no point if doesn’t affect action. Thanks

P.s this is experimental. I’ve ridden him in it and he seemed fine and happy though haven’t tested him when he’s being sharp yet!

I have had similar issues with my Arabs I tend to use small ring bits and quite fine tack as I find it fits and looks better, I personally wouldn't want the bit sitting like that it just makes the whole look a bit bulky.
