I am still on the search for a new comp bridle for my boy and after looking at some of the cheaper brands, I just didnt really like the quality of bridle work (HKM, not really a fan of JW) and still love the Dyon Bridle range, I remembered an Australian Saddlery I used to use and absolutely love their bridles! What type of noseband should I purchase/would suit his face? He used to be ridden in a grackle, although I dont think his very strong when ridden in an arena (well his not in the school, although can be quite strong when hacking out) so dont think he necessarily needs a grackle (I could be very wrong).

Bridle choices:

Have you tried the micklem bridle from rambo?
its a bit different to normal but its a bit of everything put together. its good for strong horses out hacking.
it really fits the shape of the face.
not sure if its competition legal (i think it is)
its a bit expensive but it might help. otherwise i love Jeffries leatherwork :)

I would go for whatever he needs as anything will suit his face, if he works well in the grackle then carry on using it.
I got this for my boy in black and love it

Also Sabre do really nice bridles that are slightly cheaper but still really good quality, I couldnt decide between this and the Dy'on in the end.

Im not keen on the ones you've posted as the browbands look really chunky and the buckles look abit much.

Good luck it took me ages to decide on what bridle to get but im rubbish at making decisions , when i saw the Dy'on at Olympia i knew it was the one thou :D

Thanks for your responses - I guess he doesnt have a big warmblood head, infact, its quite petite (on the top holes on his full size bridle, so I guess he has more of a cob size head). The Dy'on, Pessoa & Prestige all look really nice.. The Equipe Grackle's dont look too bad either.

Vam - did you see the brown version of the grackle at Olympia? It looks to be quite a light reddish brown?

Dandycandy - thanks for the suggestion. I dont think his too bad in hacking and that looks like a mighty strong bridle!

I saw the brown version at Hickstead and from what i remember it wasnt as red as it looked, i should imagine when its had a bit of a clean etc it will darken. None of the other brown bridles looedk that red at Olympia either but def more of a light brown than dark.
