Hi I'm getting a new bridle to match my new saddle. I've looked at a few and one of the ones I liked was the Shires Avignon Snaffle Bridle but it has some detail (white stitching) and I compete in low level working hunter and showjumping and didn't know if this was ok because I've heard you can only have very plain bridles for WH. I also liked some bridles with the raised bits is this ok too? can anyone help me out with this!

That is not really a bridle to use in working hunter classes, it has a very narrow noseband as well as fancy stitching on it as well as on the browband , you really require a slightly more substantial bridle with a plain flat noseband in a width that suits the horses head, the browband being raised is not too bad but the fancy stitching would look out of place on a hunter type.

Something like the one on the link would be more suited to a hunter.

I've got a shores avignon set for a really fine headed PC / SJ pony. They are lovely! They are not technically correct for WHP - but you say you are at a low level. If you are really just talking the off local unaffiliated show you won't be penalized too much for this type of tack. But if WHP is something you want to pursue more actively then you would be better getting something more correct. I think my lad manages 1 WHP class a year at our PC Branch show under my daughter - and he actually hunts in it - we haven't had a problem. But much more than that you would be better off being correct.
