Bridles - comfort one or not bother?

I've been looking at getting Silver a new bridle as his last one really is about to die (it's 3 years old and was only £15 to start with!). I've been having a look online etc. and I quite like the look of the comfort bridles although all of them do seem to be very expensive and I have to say I'm rather (to say the least...) skeptical of the way they all appear to come with fabulous stories of people who've bought them and now their horses seem to magically go on the bit when they wear them...?

Are they worth the money or are normal bridles just as good? And does anyone know of any bridles that are nice but not stupidly expensive? Ideally, in needs to have a crank noseband - no real reson for it as I only do it up on the loosest hole but Silver seems to go better in the than a normal cavasson. This is a picture of his current one if that helps:

Go to Tescos on line, they are doing them for about £33 at the mo complete with rubber reins and a crank NB. They are imported but have had two they were such good value. At least if you try one you won't have wasted loads of money if you later decide theyre a gimmick.

There's always a lot of Heritage comfort bridles on Ebay, I've recently purchased an Albion KB competition bridle for my boy which is also a comfort bridle and it has improved his way of going, I was very skeptical too

Cat my last horse went MUCH better in his comfort bridle. It made a huge difference to him. Like you, I was sceptical so hedged my bets & bought a £21 'Gallop' one new on E Bay rather than going for the full Elevator. I use it every day & it's still going strong 2 years later.

I wouldn't use a conventional bridle now - it must create a pressure point when the headpiece, which has the bit attached to it, presses the thinner headpiece of the noseband into the poll, esp if you're using something like a dutch gag that puts pressure on the poll anyway.

I bought a Heritage comfort bridle in winter, it's been great, very well made, very soft and also only around £40 on Ebay with reins! Love it and Toff seems to go really well in it also

I splashed out and got an elevator. My horse changed for the better almost straight away and my instructor was so impressed he got me to order him one. So, yes it worked for my horse, but I don't see why the cheap ones wouldn't work just as well as I am sure they are probably pretty much identical.
