Bright red Gums???????

when went to the yard yesterday my horse had bright red gums and looked slightly swollen - he had been out all day,
but ive never seen anything like this, they have gone done this morning and did not seem to cause any discomfort - has anyone seen this or know what it is.

Sounds like gingivitis, maybe?

Buy some corsodyl gel from boots & put it on his gums
