For the last 3 days my tb has had bright yellow gooey gunk coming out of both his eyes. its not so bad that its running down his face but its alot more that i would like and the amount is increasing each day. he seems very out of sorts too, very grumpy and aggressive, although this might be the weather or the fact that a new horse has joined the yard.
i noticed some of the discharge on one of my others yesterday but not today.
should I call the vet? ive heard that eye infections can take hold very fast and often mean the horse can lose an eye.

Sounds like conjunctivitis. He will be feeling sore if it is, and yes, eye infections can be very serious in horses and lead to ongoing problems such as uveitis so ring your vet.

Right..didnt get vet out earlier as on day 1 and two only a tiny bit was visible, probably wouldnt have noticed except i am an OCD twice daily checker... today it is worse though.

Just wanted to make an up to date thread as I read an old one and people gave tips on trying washing with cold tea or trying human eye treatments like golden eye etc before ringing vet.
should have rung before but never had eye problem with my lot before. will know better next time (although hopefully there wont be one!)
Dialing now.
thanks
