For all those with lami-prone ponies, and I mean the ones who you seem to try EVERYTHING yet they STILL keep getting it. My shetland mare had it on and off for the past year. She was so sensitive to it that the slightest thing would set it off. She was doing well and then came down with it again 2 months ago - she was on NO grass at all but was on Alfalfa as Id read it was GOOD for lami ponies. My barefoot people advised putting her on an Emergency Diet which consists of feeds of JUST speedi-beet with Simple Systems Linseed (I also add my own vit & min supp and joint supp) - the difference is amazing. For the past month she has changed dramatically - she is sound as she's been in a year and has just been galloping around!
What I should say is she is also off grass completely forever. We are lucky to have a hardcored yard (probably about the size of 8 stables) which she lives in during the day and at night she is brought in. Twice a week I open the gate to the paddocks so she can blow off steam with my other ponies (although take her back in before she starts nibbling!). I thought she'd be so miserable off grass, however I havent seen her this happy in a long time
Just thought Id let people know that if your pony really is suffering with it, the above could possibly help.
