Eeeeep! Took Harvey for his first "proper" walk today at the local nature reserve. Lots of other doggie smells, and dogs to meet.
I had my treat pouch with me, but only had his kibble in it (as I tend to cook chicken of an evening and had none left).
I walked him on the lead for a bit and then let him off. He didn't come back straight away initially, nose to the ground sniffing. However, he soon got the hang of coming back, sitting and go off again.
I did hold my breath though when the recall wasn't as instant as it is at home.
Chicken tomorrow to see if we can get more of an instant response! He was only out for ten minutes and was raring to go for longer....but I am conscious of his joints.
It was nice for him to go somewhere new. Didn't want to push my luck on the "treat" front as he only did his first "proper" pooh since Sunday at 7am this morning, after his dodgy tummy episode.
