bringing a horse back into work after a foal?

.... advice please on title! Horse been out of work for several years now. She will now come in and stand nicely on the yard (with a haynet!) will let me tack her up fine, i have taken her in the arena - first time she got very excited and the others she was fine. How long until you would sit on?

When I brought my mare back into work after a few years off I just tacked her up and walked her round the field a couple of times and then I just got on and walked her round the field for 5 minutes. Good as gold. We went from there and built up from there.
