Toto has been out of work for 1 month due to a respiritory tract bacterial infection. He's just been resting for 2 weeks now, and he's allowed to be ridden when the 2 weeks is over. He's coming back into work at the very end of February/start of March, I'm soooo excited

Me, my mum + sister have planned out a little programme to bring him back into work and get him as fit as he was before, so fit enough to be hacking, schooling, jumping, local shows etc.

What would you be starting out with to bring him back into work? We've already got a plan, just would be good to check it against what others would do. He has not been on boxrest, for the first 5 days he was out 24/7 in isolation (on vets orders) and now's he's in at night and out during the day, so at least he's being exercising himself a bit.

Thanks

I think that as he's not been on box rest, and only a month, you don't need to be toooo careful with him. Start with just walking and gentle trotting on hacks, and then build up to canter in week 2 ish? I would start hacking then building up to gentle schooling. Could be wrong though.
