What do you think?

I see Jodie Kidd is all for it, but would you actually watch it?

I personally think it could be interesting and would watch it.

(It was dropped in 1936 apparently).

Having started to play it (and then life got in the way just recently) - I sure as hell would watch it. Beats sitting through hours of dressage tests but that's just me :)

I have to agree with you there, I appreciate dressage, as in how much work goes into it, but I would much rather watch something fast paced like polo or jumping. :)

However, someone would have to explain the rules...

Do enough countries play it internationally to warrant it as an Olympic sport? (England, USA, Argentina, Dubai/UAE, Ireland, New Zealand are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head) And you'd have to get around the handicapped issue too.

See I know nothing about that, but then again I couldn't tell you the rules of a lot of the Olympic sports if I'm honest. Could the commentator explain as it played?

Also not sure about the countries, could be interesting to see if/what some countries come up with in terms of teams though, don't you think?

I would definitely watch it. Half understand the rules, but wouldn't be able to explain them very well!! The UK didn't have an official basketball team till this year, so I am sure countries are able to pull one together if they are given enough time :)

I think equestrian sport as a a whole has a very limited timespan in the olympics.Mainly due to perception it is a rich persons sport!
I do not think they will add in the ultimate rich mans equestrian sport for one minute.

Youssry Henien recently published the the GCC Polo Club Directory. The purpose of this site is to increase awareness of the sport of polo, and to increase participation in the sport. This exactly ^^^
Unfortunately I'm 99% sure we wont see polo back in the Olympics ANY time soon!
There were talks of dropping 'equestrianism' altogether at one point so we'll be doing well to keep the equestrian sports we do have, let alone introducing new ones!
Its a shame though, polo is a fab game, fast-paced, exciting, and the rules aren't that complicated when explained clearly...I've spent the last 3 months working at a polo yard and absolutely loved it!
