Firstly = apologise for the spelling in the title...I type too fast for my laptop, especially when the keys don't always work and forgot to check it had got it all.

Basically...

Blue -being his oh-so-special self - kicked himself in the leg 3 weeks ago, it was only a small, but quite deep cut (didn't need stitches luckily). He was sound on it with Bute, but when off them (we tried twice as he seemed fine) his leg swelled and he didn't want to put any weight on it. But now he's fine again.

So....He wasn't on box rest, He still had his turn out and we tried to go for daily walks inhand even if it was just down the track and back, and today we weent for the first ride, just in walk but we're out for an hour (with a break as we went to see what will - hopefully - eventually become the new yard.) I also ran him up and he seemed ok...he is stiff in the back end so it's not easy to tell unless it's obviously lame. He also seemed to be walking a lot better when I got on him....or i'm just used to his stupid walk.

Right...The original plan was to bring him slowley back in to work, just walk and build it up, but after today I was wondering whether he'd be fine to school....Only walk and trot and we only do 20 mins or so at a time. Obviously if he doesn't feel right I will stop and just walk.

What do people think? Opinions/Ideas

I will talk to my YO too as A) she knows him and B) he's technically her horse...also the years of experience, But i'd still like opinions and theres no guarentee she'll be around.

Cookies for those who get this far.

Bringing my boy back into work just four after back /lameness issue resolved after three weeks just hacking out in walk four times in last week for hour to two hours probs have another few weeks then trotting in arena

Three weeks isn't long at all to be off work, especially out in the field. If it was one of mine, I wouldn't be far off doing what they were before the break - probably just shorten hacks and schooling sessions for the first few times. I think with yours I would be thinking more about the stiffness in terms of keeping things easy rather than the time off.
