brisk walk but not trot?

Horses get their shoes on tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm so happy i should get to ride on Wednesday, after about 5 months not riding!

Anyway, we're on strict rules for riding at first. 2 or 3 short bursts of trot per hack, keeping up a brisk walk and not just dawdling along.

Blacky tends to trot at a slight kick, so any tips on keeping her walking pretty quickly without trotting?

Lots of half halts is the only thing i can think off.
I have opposite problem after returning to work walking just doesnt tick my horses box.He cant be bothered.I have two more weeks of walking I need the trot more than him.
