Ripley has been referred to Bristol hospital as bilaterally hindlimb lame now

Just been trying to plan the route down there but not actually sure where in Bristol it is??

Does anyone have an address - I can't even get it off google!

The address is boxed up somewhere and im in a paddy trying to find it for you, and my brain has gone onto standby

Its quite a way from Bristol, towards Cheddar Gorge.

Fabulous place though, very kind and experienced clinitians.

After your visit, you will want to go home and sweep, paint, weed etc

Google Bristol Vet Hospital x

Thanks guys - so that's the equine unit then where they get referred to?
Looks like a HUGE journey for my horsey - 100miles and I reckon a good 3 hours or more...

Eeek

Still, its his only chance really

Good luck, hope they get to the bottom of it.
I'm studying there so live opposite, it's a great place and they take fab care

Wouldnt want to upset you, but could you tell us about your horses problem? On the possitive side, you might get to meet ... Boss

Ripley went lame a few weeks ago on offside hind, my own vet did nerve blocks and some xrays and found a small area of change consistent with a bone spavin of the hock.
The xrays were reviewed by Bristol who said it was minor and to treat with analgesial, if became worse could have steroid injection

He had been doing ok, a little stiff when 1st worked but warmed through

However on Friday I noticed he had a very bizarre gait - and his hindquarters were moving strangely, got vet out, put on analgesia and box rest till today

Today horse appeared bilaterally lame and after flexion was unable to trot at all, instead gave several bunny hops and tried to canter instead

So my vet (who graduated from Bristol) has decided to refer him straight there this time
