Me and Prudunce are going, but we can't afford to stay the night so we're slipping out early to get the last train home (hopefully)!!!

Might be a bit of a tight timetable -- the prizegiving has been known to go on until almost midnight and as it comes after the guest speaker (Jenny Pitman) no-one will be in much of a hurry!
I've not been before, is it a good night? Is it just a meal and awards ceremony or is it more like a ball? Is it a 'listening affair' and interesting more for horse people or do you get to socialise and chat to the people your with and it be a good night for them (Ours friend arn't horsey!!!)
as well? And if you are horsey is it informative?
Cheers

Thank you Cxxx, I got home so late last night - it would have been rude to phone you back . I thought that hubby had said that his car wouldnt start - but he hadnt - it was broken into - so we had to wait for the tow waggon to take it to the dealership !
Not a happy hubby !
I have now lost just under 16 stones - which makes me sound like a mega fattie ...... but I was !!!! LOL ....
It is soooo lovely to be able to buy small dress sizes
not that I'm a siza zero ! lol (a size 12 at the moment)
Just 2 more pounds to loose !!! and then the real battle starts!! - keeping the weight off
How is your diet coming along, you were doing so well ....... with any luck I will be coming to visit you soon
Dont worry about it. Sorry to hear about the car though....what a nightmare!!
YOU HAVE LOST 16 STONES!!!! OMG!!! WELL DONE TO YOU GIRL!!! You are going to have to tell me your secret, as mine has come to a stand still!! Still just at the 4 stone. Did not put anything on over Crimbo but need to get going again, as still have a long way to go....

It's a meal plus speaker (this year Jenny Pitman ) followed by awards and a disco. Its black tie but as the meal is not rushed, people sit on round tables of about 10 (allocated according to what you have won or who you are supporting etc) and there is a bar at the back of the room open all the time, there is plenty of time and opportunity to socialise and lots of interesting things happening both for horsey people and their less interested supporters (whom the organsiers know they have to cater for in order for them to want to come again). There is a DVD running on a large screen at the front of the room showing pix of all the winners plus a short spoken intro and history of all the winning horses (prepared by the breeders/owners and spoken by Mike Tucker) so that makes everything go with a swing too.
For those staying overnight there is a special breakfast area this year as last year everyone wanted to stay and chat to their friends in the morning before they set off back home and that meant that they other hotel guests couldn't find anywhere to sit for breakfast.
