If you like me have just received a letter from BE discussing the changes that will happen in the 2009 season, you may have noticed the section "Rule Changes".

One of which is to allow riders to down grade their horses () competing at higher levels) so they can compete in the lower classes such as Intro, BE80, 90 and 100. Where as before they would have had to compete HC.

This just looks like it will allow pot hunting (glory hunting) to take place, so anyone can buy or ride a very good (above class) horse that is competing or has competed at higher levels to drop back and win the lower classes. Very unsporting!!

What is wrong with the current HC rules where the better horses can still compete in these levels, but the riders who have horses that genuinely compete in these classes still have a sporting chance to compete with similar level horses.

So much for having these classes to allow horses and riders to be introduced to this great sport and work their way up the ladder. When you go to most events you will also notice that these lower classes are always providing the lions share of the fees !!.

What do you all think about this ???
