has anyone ever been to the british racing or the northern racing college ??

are they good places to go if you want to work in racing ?? which one is better ?

also i heard that they make you play football and rounders there is that true as i hate that sort of stuff and i'm really bad at it.

If you want to work in racing and are under 19, you have to go to one of them at some point. I think they now charge for accommodation at the NRC but not sure about the BRS. From the people I have met from both of them, I would say the BRS is possibly better, but could just have come across some very duff NRC students!! Some of them have been brilliant, others have left racing rather too quickly! Also, if you want to work in or around Newmarket, the BRS is probably the better bet.
They do do a lot of fitness work, but this is mainly because you do need to be fit to work in racing!

Friends daughter went to BRC few years back, now got amateur jock licence & still works in racing.

It is very hard work, little time off. The attrition rate in students is very high. If you know someone who is serious about working in racing, great grounding, chance to get additional qualifications (like travelling), placement at yard afterwards. Found staff were very caring, horses very well looked after (by students). Be warned though it is a few months of pure slog, with a tough test (including fitness) at the end. If you don't meet the standards, you will be out or if mitigating reasons (like injury) will have to redo course with next lot of students.

Forget about rounders/football, they want people who can handle & ride tb's! They will teach you, but you need the guts & determination to succeed.
