i have a interview for the British racing school

does anyone know what its like? what questions they ask ??

i really want to go but i am scared i wont get in

and also what is it like working in a racing yard ??

I had an interview there in June (i'm due to go there in December) It's amazing there, so don't be nervous. They receive a high volume of applicants for very few spaces it is understandable to be scared- I was too but you just have to have confidence in yourself and what will be will be :)

They ask about your riding experience and what you want to do in racing etc.

It's hard work!

Good luck and have lots of fun- Its a great day out and you'll meet some great people x

working in a racing yard is hard work but can be very rewarding. if you are lazy then its not the job for you but if you are willing to put the work in, then its great. obviously there are highs and lows and the hours can sometimes be long. but i found it to be great. the yard i worked at we had 4 horses each to look after but in evening stables you could be in charge of mucking out and grooming up to 14 horses each. there is nothing better than being on the gallops on a good horse! but you have to remember whether its a gold cup winner or a maiden, the owners still expect for it to be treated like a champion! when its mid winter and freezing cold and peeing it down and you are wet through, the horses still come first (as they should). be prepared with waterproofs!

I went to the Northern racing college and it was brilliant. really enjoyed it. i have known people who have been to BRS and they have all come back saying how brilliant it is. the horses there may be a challenge but i found that once you get into a proper yard, most of the horses you have to deal with are angels compared to the "lesson" horses!!

if it is something you really want to do then go for it! good luck with your interview!!

Re applying, all you can do is try! My understanding is lots of riding experience is not necessarily a prerequisite, they are looking for people they can teach, who are willing to do the graft.

Re the life, I think it's one of those things you love or you don't. Hopefully the school will give you a solid start and help you get into a good position.
