Hello. Has anyone here been to the interview. If you have could you tell me what sort of questions they ask? How did your your fitness test go? And what should I wear? Smart clothes or sport clothes? Thank you.

Why not phone up the office and ask about clothing, or look at the website. It won't be too casual, but smart casual rather than going out at night type clothes.
Make up minimal, probably nothing outrageous in the way of jewellery. I would think about trousers and shoes, a school uniform / country look. As long as you are comfortable in them, and you are tidy, you won't go wrong. High heels and very short skirts are out!

I am not sure when they do the fitness test or what it involves, but best to do a fair bit of running, a few weights and some swimming to get fit before going anyway. If you do the test on the interview day, do you need to have a sports kit?

They are bound to ask you why you want to be employed in racing. So think about the various reason, working outdoors, with horses, in a team, sometimes its going to be fun, and sometimes exciting, always hard work.
Then the prospects, groom or jockey, travelling head lad, assistant trainer, all these things are possible though you are starting entry level, everyone has to start somewhere. If you have a favourite jockey or horse you need to know a little bit about them, certainly if they are on the flat or jump.
They will ask about your hobbies and interests, we have to assume that horses are number one, but you might have other interests, music, sports, etc.
They will ask what subjects you liked at school, and if you played sports. Its a good idea if you liked biology or something like that!

When my friend went to interview recently he said the fitness test consisted of (if I remember correctly) a 3 mile run and sit-ups for 2 and a half minutes to the time of a metronome and a bleep test. He is quite physically fit but said the fitness test was TOUGH.

I had an interview a few months back and got in, will be starting in october 😁.
For the fitnest test you do the bleep test only up to level 10 if you manage that far, arm exercises with a stretchy rope thing, sit ups holding a weight to your chest and squat against a wall holding a weight. I found it really difficult but they do say to you before you start that what you manage to get on the test wont affect whether or not you get in, if they like you, you will get in even if your the worst one in terms of fitness in the group. I got in and got a letter home telling me what was expected of me in terms of fitness when i start.
As far as clothes go, just wear sports clothes. I wore a hoodie, trainers and leggings. Some people turned up wearing suits and were told to change, everyone wore sports clothes for their interview reguardless of what they were wearing when they arrived.
The questions seemed to depend on the person (more asking about your previous experience if you have any, or asking about why you would like to get into racing if you have never even sat on a horse before), dont worry yourself too much about the interview, it was more like free flowing conversation, they are just checking your not a psycho i think!
Good luck anyway and dont worry too much, if you are a decent person and can prove that you are determined and willing to put in the hard graft required you will be fine! ☺️
