I have just had a look at my times for Broadway..... eeeek! I am riding a young horse who has never evented before and I am number 1 and have a dressage time of 8.00am (ouch) I am also first to go xc. At least I will not have any time to think about being nervous but it is also not the best situation to be in!

Good luck - You'll be grand, Broadway is a lovely course, rides well and is not terrifyingly big.

I'm waiting for Sunday times to go up....

Luckily I do know the course and have ridden there a few times but the horse I am competing on Sat is quite green and I do like to watch a few people first! Oh well! Best of luck to you too!

Good luck! I'm in the OPN so not until lunch time, and still home in time to watch the rugby

I'm really looking forward to it

PS - any tips on how to ride that one where you jump off a bank then head for a skinny? We (sorry I) am rubbish at skinnies

LOL so am I, esp when it comes to skinnies off drops! I usually trot that fence, and IIRC, the skinny is numbered seperately, so you can circle before it (if it is this time) - if you think as you come off the drop you won't make it, then shout circling, ride past it and come back to it - that way the fence judge knows you have not presented! I seem to remember there is a lot of space/time in the PN to sort it out, and that if you go up the bank far left it gives you a decent line to it. That's the one in the Novice I am most worried about too, so I know exactly where you are coming from!

Cool, thanks v much for the advice, that is excellent - it is the only fence on the course I am bothered about, the rest I am hoping he will storm round (ha ha ha, famous last words there - watch me fall off or worse

I particularly like the bit about shouting 'circling' to the fence judge, although normally for me I am shouting slightly less polite things to Josh like 'could you slow down a bit please'

Well very good luck! I am hoping not to repeat my horrendous experience there earlier in the year when brakes failed rather dramatically and we jumped out of the water over the ropes and nearly over the hedge too! Eeeep! Was the only time I have ever been in a competative position PN too - had that not happened I would have been placed. hey ho!

I think shouting avoids confusion - if I know I am planning to take an alternative I shout that on the approach too so the fence judge knows what I am doing - it helps because my horse will lock onto the wrong thing and the occasional bit of hauling may go on! I saw a pro do it somewhere like Gatcombe and thought it was a very good idea!

Just make sure you check that the skinny is numbered seperately when you walk the course though! (I would not want it to be my fault that you got a horrid 20)

Will do, don't worry! Best of luck to you too - sounds like you had an interesting time at the water last time - will not be repeating that story to Josh

No, don't!! I thought I would have to throw myself off the side into the water as I did not think he had seen the rope, but oh yes he had, and three strides out he took off! I shut my eyes and prayed....

Thankyou for the luck - we have new brakes now so fingers crossed hey!

Oh no! I would dread those times, I always ask for late times as the baby doesn't wake until 7.30 and I always have to bring her.
We are going to Draycott on Saturday and our times are great ,not starting until 11.30ish
Good luck to you.

Ive got lovely times! 10.06 dressage, hoping to clear last fence this year as fell of a cracker last year as he went to jump the gap at the side of it and knocked me off on the post! we were clear s.j. and x.c. untill then!! Im only doing intro, my first run of the season, and last, been balloted and rained off all summer. Good Luck everyone.
