An hour and a half ago I was in a really good mood. Since then Ive been to my stable yard and yet another break in. Luckily all the horses are fine.
The tack room door has had the lock sawn off and for some reason all the lower featheredge crowbarred off.
I don't really keep anything of value there but I hope their horses enjoy the alfalfa and cool mix !!!

Im still waiting for Beds Police to call me back so I can at least report it.

So for anyone in the South Beds / Leighton Buzzard area just a warning to be vigilant.

Cam

Thanks for the warning, 'tis the season I'm afraid.

Take extra care of your dogs too, a couple have gone missing in the area in mysterious circumstances.

I know, what is it about this time of year? I was only saying last week that we were due to be broken into.
I have just bought a security system (yet to be installed!!), camera's/alarm/app to iphone etc but I have a good idea that the people breaking in probably won't give a d*mn.
This raises the question of do you hide the fact you have cctv or publicise it as a deterrant ? Then if they are caught on camera do you report it and risk revenge?. It seems like a no win situation. :(

Sorry to hear about the theft at your yard.
Please ensure that all your horses are freezemarked (preferably on a part of their body where the freezemark can be seen when being ridden).
Ensure that the roof of your trailers and horseboxes are postcoded in very large lettering.
Tack mark all tack.
Postcode all rugs.
Reverse hinges on gates and ensure that lock is within a metabox welded on the gate rather than use chain which can easily be cut through.l

what make cctv did you get? Our neighbours had stuff go missing regularly until they had cctv installed 6 years ago. They've recently moved and I'm wondering if I should get a system.

Thanks, they are all freeze marked except the recent one I purchased, who is actually booked in a weeks time. Rugs have gloss paint postcodes. I have not heard of a metabox so I will look that up, Thanks :)

After much research we bought a Swann system as it was on offer and had many really good reviews. Hopefully it will live up to its reputation. Thats promising that your neighbours system worked as a deterrant.

I would ask the police re advertising CCTV usage. I think?? if you are recording the public on public land I dont think you can do that? Only can film on your own premises. But if you use CCTV camera make sure you put it up in the most inaccessible or covert. I probably would say I have it on the gate..it may put someone off. Alarm doors if possible etc.

Right pain no punishment seems to put these robbers off. Revenge would not put me off or they will keep helping themselves to free pickings.

Nights drawing in. I advertise my security cameras. In my experience it's only worth reporting for the crime reference number. The police are pretty much aware of who's responsible for these break ins (they've told me as much) but are reluctant to do anything about it.

We also have a problem with deer coursing around here and it's a matter of catching them in the act, preferably on camera. I know who's doing it, the police do too.
