Broken nasal bone?

Hi,

I have a horse with a significant bump on his nose, which is slightly worse on the left side.

The only history I know is that hes come out of a sj yard in ireland and is very nervous of people so wondering if the bump could be an old break? if it looks like it might of been caused by a stallion chain? and is it possible that putting pressure on it (headcollar etc) could be causing him any pain?

Hi, I have a mare with an old fracture that does look a lot like this .

Her's was caused by a previous owner (also in Ireland as it happens) getting her tied up, falling and in a mess with her lunging tack causing a fracture. Also damaged behind her withers while she was at it!

She has no problem with it at all now as long as you are careful about fitting tack anywhere near it. she does NOT like leather tack at all and throws her head away from it (anticipation I think) but is absolutely fine if we use padded webbing .

Not knowing his history all I can do is guess but it does make sense that something similar has happened to him.
