Oh dear .Went to Bisell wood xc course this afternoon ,lovely place and the lady drove my daughter around in her vehicle first to show the way, the going was perfect ,lovely sandy soil through woods. They set off with mobile phone as we could not see her once she got to fence 4.She told me she wouldn't be long so I waited at the corner of the woods.
About 10mins later my phone rang ,OMG. She said he had got his leg stuck in a fence and pulled it free pulling his shoe off and injuring his leg badly. She jumped off him as he was panicing and she thought he had broken his leg as he wouldn't put any weight on it and just held it in the air.
Luckily it is not as bad as she first thought and he did hobble back. He has taken the skin off as you can see but I think there is no permenent damage. He is a baby and everytime he stood still he held it in the air .We hosed it and travelled him home .It has not swollen but is very tender , so hosed again and put cream on and some bute in his dinner.
Bought him new lickit treats to keep him happy.
The jump was a coffin that has a tiger trap so you can jump it both ways ,he seem to jump it fine but got his leg stuck on the back rail, no idea how because the damage is high and stops where his boots start.

We bred him and so he is my baby . Think Claire was really worried ,but that is life ,the jumps are solid .I think it was lovely that she went and bought him some treats [ he is not her favorite ,Rafi is]

Ooh that made my legs go funny, scary for your daughter and for you, you heart leaps when the mobile rings and you know your child is riding

My mares ex fieldmate managed to do this to himself in the field. He healed up lovely, but was stepping short for a few days as the new skin was growing, but hadnt stretched yet. I think she treated it with dermagel, and greens oils. The greens oils were good for moisturising the area, and helping it to stretch with his movement. Hope your lad heals quickly!

Ouchie! Poor boy.

Get some sudocrem or other burn type product on there to help it heal and not get too dry! Sudocrem worked miracles on my mothers hand after she dropped a very hot tin on it..!

Have put lots of cream on after it was hosed and later when it dried.Has a bit of a lump on the front of the cannon bone where the boot was pushed down a bit. Fingers crossed for the morning.

Looks awfully sore and raw. Poor P. Our mare did v similar slipping on the road after she had jumped out of her field to follow the hunt. It was about this time of year, but she was never lame on it and the fur had started to regrow with summer coat by the time of her first event of the season a month later.

I would recommend aloe vera gel thats what we used on her, and can't see any scarring now.
