Ella went lame in August, with advanced arthritis in both knees. Since then, i've only ridden her a handful of times, as the ground has been so hard that I've been terrified of putting too much strain on her knees. She's on Veteran supplement (with joint supplements), a separate joint supplement from my vet, and half a Danilon per day, and it seems to have done the trick.
I decided to take her out for a very short hack this morning, and she was wonderful. She marched out really nicely, no stiffness, no tripping, no shortness, no nothing, she was lovely. Unfortunately, the local hunt met on the farm next door to ours and she got VERY excited, so i decided not to keep going round the farm, but to take her in the school for a bit.
Well, she was great. She was relaxed, sensible, still a bit giraffe-like (on-going schooling issue!) but she was lovely to ride. I am SO pleased with my silly broken pony, I luffs her! I am SO glad I didnt just send her back to her owner when she went lame, she is such a fun pony to ride.
