Vet came out today and said the reason why my lad is lame is he could have a touch of lami or could be an abses developing. Granted the grass is very rich at the moment and if it is lami it has come on very suddenly (farrier was out 2 weeks ago, i asked about lami and he said he is fine and his feet are in great condition and not to worry) and his grazing muzzle obviously isn't helping. So he is now stabled and is only allowed out for a hour-few hours a day. He is prescribed a week on bute.
My question is as we have no hay at the moment (the only stuff we have is in huge bales and is very good stuff so no good if it is a touch of lami) and i have no idea of anyone selling cr@p hay at the moment. Would he be ok if I fed him feed such as HiFi Lite as a replacement for the hay during the day? Until I find some hay for him as he has to be stabled all day and night and he is more likely to eat the hifi lite slower than hay.
Opinions and help needed please.
