Broken Saddle Tree - Any thoughts?

I find threads like this fascinating. So many people sling anything on their horse's back blithely assuming because it looks okay then it must be. Sometimes it doesn't even have to look okay, just be cheap!

Some of the saddles I see for sale at carboots, ebay etc cheap make me cringe! A friend has a pony out on loan and the loaner put on facebook a few months ago she had got him a "new saddle" for £25 and my friend liked her comment, I would have never have put that anywhere near a horse of mine! I had a lovely English saddle which I used on my boy 15 years ago, I had hung onto it for sentimental value. I was worried that the tree had warped due to being stored in damp conditions and even brought it home as I was concerned it could get stolen and used on a horse. Last weekend I gave it away to a local lady who was looking for saddles to strip like the OP has done, she is going to let me know what she finds!

I love cheap synthetic saddles, they make fantastic saddles for the youngsters... Chucked on the ground to sniff and play with, chucked up on fences and walked past etc. They also get chucked on backs... But never fastened or sat on.
