Arrived to get horses in this evening and my yearling had muddy knees ( nothing unusual ) lead him in. Slightly lame.
Noticed his knee looked rather swollen. Hosed off the mud and on closer inspection there is a small puncture wound
Vet called straight away. Sedated him, Cleaned it gave pain killers and hit it hard with anti-biotics.
They don't think its the knee joint but might have penatrated the sheath tendon. Vet said its not looking good either way. If no improvement then off to horsey hospital tomorrow .
