What do people think about BEC and the shows run there.
I have heard fairly negative comments recently and would be interested to know what people think generally.

I've only been to a couple of BD shows there but they've been well run and facilities are v good. It's just a bit far for us really which is why we don't go too often.

I love it! - Was up there last Thurs schooling - its a super set up, great facilities, EXCELLENT food, - I *think* its changed management though I could be totally wrong - there was abit of hunt jibberjabber about it. Its my favourite and luckily closest venue! - The Banana walnut cake is out of this world!!
They have useful clinics, the BD judges seem to be vaguely from the same planet as me! and the Unafill SJ is useful too

Hi, yes its the most local venue to me, I've only done Unaff stuff, some clinics and watched lecture demos there (-Geoff Billington 18th Sept!) But it has excellent facilities, the food is great. I think most of us 'locals' consider ourselves lucky to have it on the doorstep! Our only real option for indoor jumping B4 was Gracelands and that was quite a trek!
Its great also to be able to have training on offer locally with 'named' riders, they've had Will Miflin, Mandy Kent, Geoff Glazzard and Isobel Wessels to name a few.
I've always found them to be open to suggestions for improvement and different ideas too.

t_r - I think your sources are correct re change in management!

Echo the others really - lovely surface and light indoor school, great food! Only gripe would be warm-up is a trek from indoor so hard to keep track of class progress, also nowhere to stay dry if pouring with rain (tiny covered area but not big enough) Definitely worth a visit.

Thanks for all the info, I have heard the new management is not good and that most things are poorly supported. I wondered if others had heard similar.

Summer BSJA has not been well supported but mainly due to clashes with other shows and the fact that they have been indoors which doesn't suit everyone. Winter shows are well supported - they have good course builders and the surface is fantastic. As are the carpark, cafe, warm up etc.

I know the owners have appointed a centre manager who only started beginning of August - can't comment on this as haven't been for a while.

But as with everywhere if we don't use them we lose them!

Please note Gracelands are in the process of having a new indoor surface - same as Solihull. I know the new owners are spending a fortune on the place - £38k on the new surface and £10k on new jumps alone! There is still a lot to be done (they are doing a new cafe, new toilets and planning a new outdoor warm up for next year) but these will only get done if we support their shows. It is a business afterall. Full praise for all their efforts!
