My lovely well behaved horse has been doing some little broncs recently!! I'm pretty sure it's just because he's feeling well in himself, he's being a bit of a beast in general at the moment, but I'm a bit worried his saddle might be pinching him a bit...

Either way the saddle is ancient, doesn't fit me or him that great so I think it's time for a new one..

I'd love an Albion jumping saddle but I can't face spending loads on a new one... what could a get S/H for around the £500 mark??

Thanks for any replies.

You could get an Abion for £500 but they arent that great IMHO.... have a look on saddles direct, but you are better off trying to beg/borrow/steal as many different makes as you can to try first

Thanks. We've got a local saddler that will do fittings for second hand ones, so I can always go down that route. My mums got a new Albion - not sure what kind it is but it is soooo nice and really comfy!! It was £900 nearly new though and I can't afford that much.

Ah ok, useful to have a saddler like that

Albion jump saddles are ALWAYS for sale, so you normally have a choice....

Do you know what fits him?

I find the k2 albion really seems to tip me more to the front of the saddle, its almost wedging you forward, but you can pick them up off ebay for around £600.

Your post made me chuckle as I had put off buying a new saddle until a few weeks ago - life changing!! My horse is completely different, my bum does not get sore and I dont regret it one little bit. The old one did fit, but I was watching the pennies and one day thought to hell, this is my hobby and went for it.

I think the only way is to get a good saddle fitter out, tell them your budget before hand and see what they bring, I did not look at the make etc, I just kept trying saddles until I found the perfect match. The saddle will find you, if you get my meaning.

Be a convert like me, you;ll not regret it.
