I don't know what got into my horse this morning. I rode her for the first time in two weeks; she was in her stable all day yesterday due to the weather, but other than that has been out in the field every day. I tacked her up, climbed on in the yard, asked her to walk on and she launched into a series of six bronco bucks! She has never, ever done this in the eight years I have had her - she can be known to buck a) in fury when smacked or b) when fresh and having a gallop, but never like this! She didnt seem to be in pain; after the little episode she walked on as nice as pie, and was happy to trot/canter. Plus she's never been cold backed, so I'm putting it down to extreme freshness and her way of saying, 'I'm feeling well!!!'

Considering my balance is horrendous, and the fact that I hadnt yet put my feet in my stirrups, I'm quite impressed that I stayed on! The insides of my thighs and knees are turning a funny colour though

If it was anything like the buck in you avatar then I'm very impressed you stayed on! I would put it down to super duper freshness and hope it was a one off

I think there is something in the air ATM... we've seen a few 'out of character' monents lately. Think might dig out the neckstrap before riding this pm just in case...;)

Mt new horse has started bucking with excitement. This I can cope with, however he also jumps sideways at the same time rodeo style.

Think I am going to swap my hat for a stetson and ride with one arm above my head next time! I might have a better chance of staying on.

well done you it always feels good when you stay on and they have given it loads.

Must be the freshness alot of the horses on the yard have been bucking a lot this week when ridden.

Well done for staying on!!!

Gee can buck so big her tail flicks the top of my hat! Funnily enough these humongous ones are easy to sit, her little broncy bounces are the worst hehe but she always stops just as I'm dangling on by a thread, she's never EVER bucked me off =D

hmmm there tricky ones to sit to, I ride a horse that is partial to a cork skrew buckaroo, ... specially in the menage, think she's learnt in the past when she pulls those super star manoovers that the rider gives in she gets to have her own way and not do any work that involves raising her pulse rate! that as a about 6 months ago and my OH is still twizzering the wood chippings out of my ass lol!

Just make sure your feet come out of your stirrups easily as those kina bucks are not clean throws and you can end up being dragged.

Only time merlin has ever bucked with me was when a horse fly flew up into his sheath..... or at least thats what he thought was going to happen

Other than a couple of half hearted ones more like a big transition into canter
