Brook Staples clinic - shall i go?

I had a letter in the post this morning inviting me to a local equestrian centre for a clinic with Brook Staples, it says he will work with horse and rider on the flat first and then we'll jump xc simulated fences all in the outdoor arena. The cost is £40 and would be in groups of 3-4. You also have to let them know height of your horse and level you compete at....

Just wondered if anyone had seen or been to a clinic with Brook, or anything similar??

Bud is all fit and well now and compeiting well (won combine training comp on sat, first dressage test for 9 months!!) we are aiming for 2 PN runs then go upto N, our first will prob be Stafford end of March (OPN on fri at Oasby and have to work boo!!) We are currently having regular dressage training and a bit of SJ training and very happy with my trainers - hope to go to Aston for xc schooling when it drys up. He gets worked 4 times a week due to work and lack of facilities.

So just wondered if this clinic would be money well spent??

Any advice/knowledge gratefully recieved.....
 
This was mentioned earlier this week I think? Post further down....Am eyeing it up also, but for a baby group. I would go...

Have just been agonising over a similar decision with Lex - £45 for a Nick Turner clinic.

Decided to go for it in our case - she is only doing one XC schooling session before she starts eventing this year so it might as well be a good quality one.

It costs £20 to hire the course anyway.
 
I was debating to take my youngster but having read your post realised I had not got it right, I was under the impression the menage work was over corners etc then some work out on the xc course. Now changed my mind and dont think I will go, can do all that at home (and have been doing!). Different story if actually out on the xc course as need to do ditches and water etc. Teach me to read the literature properly

yeah i think i will only get out maybe once to xc school before PN events then hope to go again round bigger schooling course before i upgrade, the outdoor arena costs £25 an hour on its own!!!

Yeh it is corners and bounces but all in the arena, not out on course - the thing is i have no facilities so i have to borrow or hire arenas and set things up myself so it can be difficult.... and maybe if i remeber how he sets things out i could try and resemble it at friends arenas when i have time to do it.
maybe get mum to video so i can watch it back!

I had to read it twice!!
 
Hey, It was my post, from earlier in the week! I still cant decide whther to go, my horse has been out of work for ages, so Im not quite sure whether it would be a good idea. But Id quite like a good kick up the ass to improve my Sj for the Spring! My thinking is, that if its at Eland it will be worth going to because they are always up to standard!
 
arrr i didn't see that post sorry yes Eland - i'm still not sure, my boy was off for 7 months after chipping stifle but is now back and fit so think it may benefit us on technical issues!! not sure about riding xc in an arena i may go into sj mode?!?

what level would you put down???
 
I have absolutely NO IDEA what hes like but go and enjoy it. Sometimes even if the person isnt great getting you and your horse out to things is better than schooling at home imo.
Just take away what is of interest to you.
 
good point, and as they charge £25 for that arena i'm getting the training bit quite cheap really..... and it's on the doorstep....

thanks will try and get mum to photo/video so i can then critiqu myself after~!!!
 
Is Eland £25 gosh!! I HATE that surface don't think horses jump well on it at all! Brooke is a good trainer though so prob worth the lesson!
