I've noticed that my mares urine is turning the grass brown and where she goes frequently its died away into a bald patch. None of the other horses on the yard seem to do it. Its definatly the urine as I poo pick daily and I've seen the spots where she goes.

Should I be worried? Also does anyone know what causes it?

She is out 24/7 at the moment. When she's in being ridden she gets soaked hay. 1/2 a net daily tops. Her feed consists of 1 large scoop happy hoof, 2 scoops naf general purpose supplement, 2 scoops oestress supplement, 30ml linseed oil and 30g clivers and marigold dried herbs.

There is a field at my yard which developed brown patches where the horses wee'd on it last year. I suppose they might have been doing it over a small area and the grass gave up the unequal battle :) I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry. Our mares have latrine areas where they pee and poo, the grass is long and swaying gently in the breeze and we also have the yellowed dead areas. I'd rather they pee there than on their grazing because they sure won't eat the grass there.

Actually I think you will find this is rabbits doing this , we have some they return daily to the same spot to wee and poo. I bet if you look around the spot you will see rabbit droppings.

I know this as one of my resting fields developed this without the horses in. ( not totally ruling out the horses tho)

I have noticed this occurring in areas where the horses have pee'd and there has been no rain for awhile afterwards (!) - unlikely at the moment though
