hi,

is it "correct" to have brown tack on a dark bay horse? I'm buying a friend a bridle for christmas (long way off i know...) and I've just seen one,
Horse is 16.2hh TB, Dark bay, She has both black and brown saddles, which colour tack is "correct"? (If that makes sense?) :p

If for showing then brown tack is ALWAYS correct. Dressage nearly always black. Anything else and I don't think either is more correct than anything else although my personal preference is always for brown as it is more traditional and IMO looks better on most horses.

My only exceptions are for truly black horses (which I have never been lucky enough to own) or piebalds.

What a nice friend you are though. That is a stonking gift. I usually get chocolate or novelty socks!
