brownbread/ kent quine donkey rescue

I know of both rescues. Brownbread is the more well known of the 2. there is also Canterbury horse rescue as well. I know that kent equine does have room for a couple at present, well she did yesterday anyway. I hope that you manage to find a space for your horse. Why does he/she need to go to a rescue?

you do??
so they are shams? going to sell him or something?
he has coffin joint dgd and needs to retire
she said she'd take rolo
but i just worry lots about him xx

For shame, OP. Needing to retire isn't the same as a horse needing to be rescued from abuse or neglect. Horse rescue charities are up to their eyeballs in genuine rescues and don't need their precious places being taken up by retirements UNLESS you are paying livery for him and/or making a sizeable donation eg £5,000 to cover his livery. Man up and either care for him in his old age, find him a proper retirement home or bite the bullet and pts.

How rude are you. Who are you to comment like this? How do u know of.my personal circumstances aren't bad??? I have had rolo for 5 years I have nursed him throuh so much a lot of people wouldn't ibd fracture.bad feet.. even my vet said how lucky he is. My father bought him for me.before he died, loosing my dad left my money situation not great, I also owe my vet still and can no longer really afford.rolo.and obv can.not sell.or loan him. I want to do right by the horse. Pts isn't necessary atm he's very happy. The ''rescue'' advertise for unwanted horses or people who can not afford livery!!!! People are so quick yo judge whatever u do people comment!

I have yet to come across any genuine rescue that actually advertises for horses, they are all full to the brim with real welfare cases! Be very careful, also Im afraid the others are right they are not there for people who just want to retire their horses somewhere, there are proper retirement yards for this, and they do charge. U nfortunately you may have to make the right decision for him, if he cannot be loaned out as a companion ?

Agree with this.

I don't know the Kent one, but I do know Brownbread very well, and they are totally genuine.

But I suspect poor Dinty is up to her eyes enough with genuine rescue cases, without having to take on something just because its owner doesn't want it anymore.:(

I know there are a couple of places in Kent that say they are rescues but take horses and then bute them up and sell them on.

Brownbread is NOT one of these.

You have to ask yourself what type of REAL rescues will be advertising for horses. The places that are genuine rescues are all inundated at the moment.

REAL rescues are there to help animals in trouble, not animals that people just can't afford anymore.

Please don't think I just don't want him. I love him so much but I am struggling to keep him and pay his bills off for the vet which insurance hasn't paid. Please don't think bad of me. I guess he isn't in trouble, I am and I don't want that to rub off on him.

Can you not find cheap grass livery & keep him?
If you look down the stolen/tracing section you'll find quite a few cases of horses that have been taken as companions & then buted up and sold to ride.

There are a few retirement homes but I think you need to be on there waiting list. Like Speen.

Have you thought about an add round your way offering him free on a companion basis only.

Or can he be on a low does Danilon? Then you could find a sharer to help out with the bills.

You could have 2 sharers that way you have him one day a week (day off) and most of the livery cost is down to them but you have a say on where he goes??
