It is absolutely freezing up here now! The temperature has really dropped over the last few days. It was down to 4 degrees last night and due to go down to 1 degree on Friday night.

I had actual ice on my car windscreeen this morning!

It's also dark by about 8pm now :(

So it's now back to riding and turning out in the dark (we have arena lights but still :( )

I've dug out the thermals and winter gloves, getting stocked up on feed and shavings and getting ready for winter!

Is everyone else in the same boat or are the Southerners still enjoying a lovely summer?

I'm just down the road from you and contemplating a trip to my parent's house to dig out heavier rugs for Friday night because I'm not sure if my oldie will be warm enough in his medium-weight :(

At least it's relatively warm during the day still :o

I moved from your neck of the woods to Surrey 7 years ago - it's lovely down here today :) I really don't miss the Glasgow weather at all.

It was cold last night, one of mine had a med weight stable rug on, but it's glorious during the day. It really never gets as cold and wet as back home, though I do still end up in thermals and 20 layers of clothes through winter :)

Certainly chilly this morning. Mine still out 24/7 naked, whilst it's dry and not windy I don't worry too much about cold. I'm hoping for another couple of weeks before getting the rugs out and with luck they won't be in at night until November. Fingers crossed, winter is long enough.

One of my facebook friends claimed to have gotten snow overnight at her yard. I've dug out the winter jumpers and Deano is in a full neck medium weight rug
Grump grump grump

It's very cold at night now I even had to put my heating on :(. I am going to start putting a lw on one of mine at night I think, I just can't believe it was dark here by 7.30

Yup, think I'll be digging out some slightly cosier rugs for tonight, theres a definate nip in the air over here too! Brrrrr.

Still its better than the persistant rain we had most of the summer!

Mine are still naked but come in to a cosy stable with far too much bedding trying not to rug as much want them all fluffy :-)but as for me thermals are out its still cold but not that bad plus mine are natives

Oo I'm a Glasgow-er too! Needing to stock up on shavings and hay, pony is coming in more often now so winter is definitely here! He was out last night with a middleweight on. Thursday's to be the coldest though at night :/

My lad is not rugged at all but I keep telling him he needs to get a move on growing his coat! Not resorted to the heating yet but had the log fire on a bit and the electric blanket to pre-warm the bed!!!
Thermals are ready and already in my sealskinz gloves as I get Raynaulds in my hands very easily. Cycling to work is getting nippy - already on arm warmers, thicker socks, gillet and sealskinz gloves. Got leg warmers and a hat for under my cycling helmet ready and waiting!

I am in South Lanarkshire and its been very cold the last cpl days, feels like December rather than September! :( Ive brought the 4 of mine that get stabled in for the winter so they are all cosy, my other horses are all out in the field naked. Need them to get a good winter coat on before I start rugging. My competition mare is the only one with a rug on atm. :)

Nippy start here this morning but also sunny :) i love this time of year, crisp, bright autumn days :D

It's my favourite time of year too :D

Loving wrapping up warm to go for a nice long hack!!

Coblet is sporting a quite extreme bib clip and still in a rainsheet because he's always toasty hot - hoping I don't have to clip the rest off but we'll have to wait and see!

Horse seemed warm enough in her quickly-growing furry coat but I put on a down vest when I went to the barn yesterday. :(

Why put a vest on if she was warm?!

Im up in yorks and we too are def feeling a bite to the air this week. Rather surprised at people in MW rugs already though, what happens if we hve another winter when its -15 again
