Ok guys, tried the wonderful first horse again... and hit the deck lol It was completely my fault so i dont blame him for ditching me...

The embarrassing part was, Dad was there (its taken til im nearly 30 for the family to take notice). He hates horses and thinks they are dangerous... so typical it happened now!

It really was a spectacular fall.. didnt think i could get my legs over my head like that... Got straight back on and he was fine, cantered fine etc.

And the sick thing... it hasnt put me off... he is perfect in everyway... i thought i would be sobbing on a heap when/if i came off but i actually started laughing...

Would it put you off? if you knew you had made a genuine mistake and caused it?

What did you do to make him 'ditch you'?!!!

Tbh a schoolmaster/first horse type should be forgiving enough not to 'ditch' under any circumstances, so am intersted to know why you see yourself at fault.....

However the important thing is that you have not lost your confidence in the horse.

yeah ditched made it sound malicious... i pushed him out of his stride so he was long and low, he stumbled, i tipped forward, he bunny hopped on the front reacting to the overbalance, and i tumbled off his shoulder... managed to make it look and sound way more spectacular than it was!

Yup not lost confidence in him, there was nothing nasty in it... oh and i said the famous last words... 'oh yes i have been riding for 20 years' then did something stupid lol

That makes more sense...!!!

That would definitely not put me off at all and just a shame it happened in front of your Dad.....go for it!

Well its done now and you did the right thing getting back on.

When i got back into riding after a 25 year break I was kinda desperate to fall off. Brought my first horse last May and it took a good couple of months before I came off after a rubbish attempt at jumping him (neither of us can jump, lol) and the relief was immense. I hurt something, cant remember what .. oh my knee but i got back on laughing and relieved I had got it over and done with :)
He went for a hoony round the school and then came straight back to see if i was ok ... and to limit the telling off i reckon now I know him so well, lol :p
