Has anyone else's horse done this? What was prognosis? My mare did this when we brought her back to yard after having just bought her. She's not lame in walk or trot but both back legs are sore, one being quite warm where tendons are and heat in said foot. Vet hasnt said much just bute (supposed to be in stable but havent got one) and rest. He just said to monitor it but just wondered what your experiences are and how long your horse took to come sound. Also meant to say she is really foot sore on the leg with heat in it and obv doesnt want to move over or cross her legs with it. Cant pick said foot up either and she's reluctant to put weight on it.

Not having much luck esp. since Ive not ridden her yet only when I went to try her.

If as you say she really isn't weightbearing and you cannot pick up the foot and she cannot be on box rest I would get the vet back out (pref a different vet I think).
Can you make a tiny paddock with electric fencing for her?
I would keep up the bute and cold hosing.
It is awful when you have just got one and it does something - my friends horse did a tendon in the field on day one and was off for 3 months.
I would certainly have another talk with the vet and if you aren't happy get another one out.

if no stable put her in a tiny bit of field same size as a stable so she can not work around to much. cold hose it get her on some arnica tablets. if she is not weight bearing at all get the vet out and tell them you are not happy with her!

Shes walking on it at the moment. Shes on one bute a day. I've started cold hosing it. Ill get some arnica tablets. I cant really see where the damage is. Surely the leg would be puffed up. Its not.
