Bruised suspensory???

Hi all, my mare was diagnosed with a bruised or sprained suspensory ligament 6 weeks ago, leg was scanned and ligament itself was fine, just abit of swelling and a collection of blood, she has never been lame with it. Vets did a tendon split and everything went ok, the small swelling went down but there is still a hard lump about 4 inches long on the outside of her cannon bone. she is not in any pain and is off to the vets in the morning for a check up. Has anyone had a horse with this injury? what was the outcome? My mare is 22yrs old and was in full competition work. Thanks

my mare did the same but was only 5 years wen she did it! she was of work for about 4 months untill i could ride her then i had to take it slowly build her back up increasing the amount of time by 5minutes in walk up to hour and so on every week untill cantering she is absoloutley fine now(touch wood) she has neva been affected by it since... she did strain it tho and bruised it so may be a tiny bit different dunno if thats any help to you
