My normally very sound horse is lame. I had him shod last Thursday (15th) and since then has been lame. I have taken the shoe of and my farrier has come back out to see if there is any pus but he couldnt find anything but said he was very sore on the toe and thinks it is bruised.
Now, I a great believer in horses being out and about as my WB can get very bored in the stable and kick the walls etc. So last night my OH and I made and equislipper out of a yoga mat and socks (I have an equiboot but he took it off within seconds). So today he is out in the field.
I have done a little research and most say he should have rest, the pad on the bottom of his foot is about inch thick and the field is very flat, do you think im silly to turn him out and also how long does it take for a bruise to clear?
Any stories of your horses bruised feet would be good also!
