Pony went out hunting and has come back with sore puffy legs, pretty much due to me sending her out with Premier Equine eventing boots on. Whilst I thought they have good fetlock coverage they have got a very hard bit at the back which has caused soreness. I don't want to take her out without a pair of front boots on so was wondering if anyone could recommend me a brand/pair?

Anything neoprene is softer on the legs, won't hold much water and are easy to wash. The Mark Todd ones have double velcro fastenings and good strike pads and are very reasonable price wise. I like the Prolite ones but they are more expensive. I hunt my eventers and workers so do like to boot up too but is hard to find something which works for hunting. I would like to hunt without anything on their legs but I just can't make myself do it! I've always had problems with XC style boots with tendon guards too, they always seem to rub so use neoprene ones.

I have a set of now quite elderly event ones which are fleece lined. Actually kept the, back for hunting as meant nothing else got into rub. Need to tighten the straps after they have been on as the fleece settles.

I have always used the woof single lock brushing boot, they are really hard wearing, light weight and seem to fit nicely as have never had any rubs or sore bits and have been using them for about 8 yrs

Eventing boots are really designed to be worn for c20-25 mins max: 10 mins warm up, 5-10min competing and 5 mins cool down. Out hunting you will be wearing them for several hours, so it is no wonder that they rub.

I evented for years and it took me years to come around to going with naked legs; it went right against my nature, but is has honestly been for the best.
