What height do 128cms (12.2???) pony classes jump? Also the same with 138cm (13.2??)

If pony was 13h, what classes do they go into?

In BE pony, is there a minimal height (14.2 max -right?) And is that still over the novice track (3'6''??) or has it changed?

Many thanks.

I only know for 128 and 138 ponies in BS. U can jump from 70cm opens upto over a metre.

A 13 hand pony would jump in the 138 section as its ponies from 129 to 138 cm

Im not 100% on all your questions as just been looking at registering my daughter at the end of this summer but i know a 13h would jump in the 138 sections. They have to be under 128 to jump 12.2 tracks.
I think size of jumps depends on the classes you do, stepping stones is usually the starter classes, think there 70-75cm for 128 ponies.
They also do 70cm open classes.
Im going to catch a lift with a lady whos little girl has been doing registered for a year so she can help me at first so im not going in blind!!;):)

I'd like to know too as I saw a 12.2 for sale as it would "only" jump up to 80cm tracks happily. I thought that was quite large for a 12.2 but obviously I am a wimp :o

I'm pretty sure the minimum heaight for BE is 14hh or it might be 13hh can't remember which, not a lot of help! :p

Do you think you could get the 13hh pony measured down? You'll find that most the 128s are more like 13.2 and most the 138s are more like 14.2s. My 148 is nearer 15.1.

There are novice BS classes with winnings restrictions that are open to any height of pony and range from 80cms to 1.10n in the first round. In addition, there are classes open to any height of pony and winnings from 70cms upwards.

128cms (12.2hh in old money) ponies who are top class and jumping the biggest qualifiers for their height category jump 1.10cms in the first round and then the fences go up in the second round and the jump off, ending up around 1.25cms. The ponies who can compete at this level are few and far between and command huge prices.

The same can be said for 138cms ponies (13.2hh) as the best ponies jump over 1.15cms in the first round going up to 1.25 and 1.35cms for the jump off. Irish SJAI affiliated classes have 1.20 classes for this height of pony regularly, and so the jump off is 1.30cms.

148cms (14.2hh) ponies jump huge tracks as you can imagine. The 128 pony mentioned jumping 80cms sounds like a nice PC pony but in BS terms he or she would be a starter affiliated pony rather than a top one. I hope that is helpful and am happy to answer any other questions as I have a child jumping 128's just now and have been through the height categories myself and with our older son.

I can only talk about BE ponies. It is, min height of 13 in be80 and 14hh in anything above that. And to the best of my knowledge and look on BE website, pony trails are run at novice height.

Thanks everyone, really helpful replies. I'm glad to read that pony classes does start low (70cm) as in my mind I visualise HOYS /the equivalent of! which looks massive from a horse point of view, let alone a pony!!

can anyone else confirm Koko's 14h or 13h for BE? And do they still do the novice tracks, or is there separate classes of intro for example?

Im definaly not planning on letting my daughter jump 1.25m classes i think i would actually pass out!!!
Im just going to register her as she won quite alot of 60cm classes and 70cm classes and is doing well round 80cm classes too. But alot of local shows now were finding she cant jump due to the restrictions of not being abe to have won a 1st 2nd or 3rd. And i figured we may aswell have a shot at maybe winning some of her entries fees back occasionaly!!;) Although im fully aware that winning unafilliated is slightly different to affiliated shows but hey ho with her being a PC member and and my membership not being renewed for a good few years it think its going to cos be about 60quid for a years membership for daughter me and ponio!!
